When your project calls for premium
You know that for many situations, 28- or 26-gauge panels work well. But sometimes you just need something more.
We’re happy to announce that we now have Grade 50, 24-gauge panels. The steel is the same as other panels — you just get more of it! The colors will also be the same SMP product as our existing panels, which will make it easy if you ever need to coordinate with another gauge.
Initially, we are stocking Black, Matte Black, Bronze, Charcoal, and Slate, and we expect to add colors as we move forward.
Our 24-gauge will be available in standing seam panels, slit coil, and Aristolath. The standing seam panel will be slightly wider than our standard 26-gauge version, which will give you some flexibility in design.
Why 24-gauge?
When your project calls for premium, 24-gauge won’t disappoint. It’s incredibly strong and is especially resilient against dents and oil-canning — perfect for high-end residential and commercial work.
Why SMP?
For our coating, we’ve opted to keep the same SMP (silicone modified polyester) system found on our other panels.
We realize that it’s common to offer a PVDF (commonly called Kynar) paint system on 24-gauge panels. And it’s true that PVDF is outstanding — we aren’t suggesting SMP will outperform it.
But SMP technology has advanced significantly over the past decade and is now a strong, reliable performer in many situations.
Given these improvements, we believe that the extra expense of PVDF usually isn’t worth the cost. That’s the main reason we’ve chose to stick with SMP.
And remember, these panels come with our 40-year warranty.
